Calling all artists!

The Piedmont Arts and Crafts has reopened under new management. Their goal is to be open 6 days a week selling arts and crafts that have been made by our local artists. If you are an artist actively producing artwork, it would be wise to contact Sarah Blanton. Just go to mtgartsguild.blogspot.com and she will be more than happy to hear from you! Remember, you can't sell it unless you get it out there to the people!

Mark your calendars!

Hi everyone. Mark your calendars for the next MG downtown crawl on July 16. The Piedmont Arts Guild and the Piedmont Center for the Arts will be having child centered activities. Last night we had snow cones, cotton candy, wood turning demonstrations (where your child could take home a small souvenir), and a "make your own art" area for kids AND adults! Did I mention the live entertainment? Thanks to Liz, Ronnie, Leah, and Frank for their sweet sounds! If you missed it, there's always July. Make sure you don't miss that one--I'm sure we'll have even MORE stuff to do then!

This is Tommie Robinson's painting of some town folk. The past, present and future of Mount Gilead shown in the lovely faces. You can see this painting as it hangs in the Piedmont Center for the Arts next time you are in town! As you can see, we have a multi-cultural community.

Thanks to everyone who came to the Mount Gilead Downtown Crawl. We wanted to create something for people to do on Friday nights in the summer. I think we are off to a great start!

Welcome to our Blog

This is our first art blog in Mount Gilead, North Carolina. It will include all aspects of art in our community - and I'm Celia Blake - the art teacher at Mt. Gilead Elementary School. Come join us and see what all is going on with art in our community. We're getting ready for an art show of children at our school.
